About this directory

CareerTherapyOnline.com is a directory. It lists 2,706 licensed US therapists who include career concerns among their specialties.

Who it is for

It is for adults whose work is weighing on them. That might be burnout, losing a job, a career change, conflict with a manager or colleagues, pressure to perform, or work stress that is spilling into home life. It is also for people who simply want to see what kind of support exists before they talk to anyone.

You do not need to have a clear plan, and you do not need to be sure that therapy is right for you.

Which therapists are listed

Every therapist here lists career concerns as a specialty. Each one also holds a license recorded in one or more of these places: Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. A therapist may hold a license in only one of them. The state shown on a profile is the location the therapist lists, and each profile sets out the license details on record.

Listing career concerns as a specialty is not, by itself, evidence of training in any specific method. If a particular approach or experience matters to you, ask the therapist about it.

What therapy can and cannot do here

A therapist can help with the emotional side of work: stress, worry, low mood, anger, confidence and the decisions that come with change. Therapists do not find jobs, act as recruiters, or give legal, HR or financial advice. Therapy cannot promise a job, a promotion or an income outcome.

Where the profiles come from

Profiles are based on information supplied by BetterHelp, an online therapy platform. Each profile shows the license details, focus areas, approaches, experience and languages the therapist lists.

We are independent. We do not employ the therapists and we do not recommend one over another. When you follow a link to BetterHelp from a profile or topic page, we will earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What this site is not

This site shares information. It is not medical, legal, financial or employment advice, a crisis line or an emergency service, and therapy does not replace medical care. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. To talk to someone now, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

How to use the site

  1. Start with a work concern or a state, or open any profile.
  2. Compare license details, experience, focus areas, approaches and languages.
  3. Shortlist two or three therapists whose way of working suits you.
  4. From a profile, review the online therapy options.
